In those difficult, dim, dark days of a COVID-19 induced quarantine, I felt a strong urge to create an ex-voto as an antidote to the stress and strain of the times. Words which are usually autonomous may indeed be bound together through a determination to claim their status in this text and perhaps altogether narrate a piece of history of this contemporary world; Humanity, Materialism, Value, Profit, Threat, Technology, Environment, Responsibility, Priority, Entrapment, Personal Data, Freedom, Initiative, Restart and lest we forget Social Media.

The virus came to strip a system built by people founded on economics and not on humanity. Profit above health, the environment, moral values… above all, profit. Chasing a filtered image, consumption has become a personal goal, the value of money and the number of followers reigning supreme. At the same time, the weary soul finds itself in long-lasting despair, in a void, empty and lonely, roaming in a universe of vanity. We are not a few who sincerely wish for change. Let us therefore unite our voices, let us stand together against those who try to define our lives in dehumanizing terms. The time has come for change.

Φως αληθινό σε μέρες δύσκολες και σκοτεινές, η πρόσκληση του #stayhomeart της Μαριέττας Κοντογιάννη να δημιουργήσουμε ένα κόσμημα την εποχή της καραντίνας του COVID-19. Λέξεις αυτόνομες που όμως συνδέονται άμεσα μεταξύ τους, με πείσμα διεκδικούν μια θέση σε τούτο το κείμενο κι ίσως όλες μαζί μπορούν να αφηγηθούν κομμάτι της ιστορίας του σύγχρονου κόσμου. Άνθρωπος, Υλισμός, Αξία, Κέρδος, Απειλή, Τεχνολογία, Φύση, Ευθύνη, Προτεραιότητα, Εγκλωβισμός, Προσωπικά Δεδομένα, Ελευθερία, Πρωτοβουλία, Επανεκκίνηση, χωρίς να ξεχνάμε τα Μέσα Κοινωνικής Δικτύωσης.

Ο ιός ήρθε να απογυμνώσει ένα σύστημα φτιαγμένο από ανθρώπους με όρους οικονομίας και όχι ανθρωπιάς. Το κέρδος πάνω από την υγεία, το περιβάλλον, τις ηθικές αξίες, πάνω από όλα το κέρδος. Αυτοσκοπός η κατανάλωση, το κυνήγι μιας εικόνας επεξεργασμένης μέσα από φίλτρα, υπέρτατη αξία το χρήμα και ο αριθμός των followers. Την  ίδια στιγμή η ψυχή σε διαρκή απόγνωση, στο κενό, μόνη και άδεια να περιφέρεται στο σύμπαν της ματαιοδοξίας. Δεν είμαστε λίγοι όσοι επιθυμούμε βαθιά την αλλαγή. Ας ενώσουμε τις φωνές μας, ας σταθούμε εμπόδιο απέναντι σε αυτούς που ορίζουν τις ζωές μας με όρους απάνθρωπους. Ήρθε η ώρα να αλλάξουμε.
